U.S. Customs and Border Protection experienced a systems outage for processing passengers on international flights at various airports, the agency said Friday.

The agency said it is taking immediate action to address the technology disruption. CBP officers continue to process international travelers using alternative procedures until systems are back online.

Lines were longer at some airports as a result as more passengers waited to be cleared, CBP said.

A CBP official said the outage is impacting airports nationwide. However Global Entry — a program for pre-approved passengers to be processed into the country using an automated kiosk — is starting to come back online.
